Cutting off the Bad Roots

Thursday, 6th November marks the beginning of a powerful new series at the Love Therapy, called “Cutting Off the Bad Roots.” Aline, are designed to help both couples and singles uncover the deeper causes of their relationship struggles and most importantly, learn how to make peace with love.

As we grow up, we don’t just inherit our parents’ eye color or mannerisms — we also pick up emotional patterns, habits, and sometimes, hidden pain. The disappointments from past relationships, unresolved family issues, resentment, or rejection can quietly shape the way we love and relate to others.

Without realizing it, we begin to carry this emotional baggage, making it harder to love, or be loved. We start to believe that love itself is the problem — that it only leads to hurt. But is love really to blame for our mistakes and heartbreaks?

The secret lies in understanding our roots. None of us begins life with a blank slate. Our story starts with our parents, our upbringing, and the history that came before us. Many people don’t realize that their love lives are often shaped by past wounds and family patterns passed down through generations.

Perhaps your parents separated, or there’s a history of relationships that never seemed to work out. When we fail to recognise where we come from, or the story we are continuing in our family tree, we can easily repeat the same mistakes, walking down crooked paths and producing the same painful results. These patterns become deep roots and unless they’re cut off, true transformation remains out of reach.

But there is hope. Unlike a tree that cannot straighten once it’s grown, a person can change. God gives us the chance to start again. When we allow Him to intervene, He renews us from the inside out.

If you’re ready to uncover what’s been holding your love life back and start afresh, come and join us every Thursday at 10am. It’s not too late to learn how to love again — the right way.
