"I was unable to have children, so my husband took another woman."

I got married to my husband, and we started living together. However, I was unable to have children because I was barren. My in-laws would talk about me, telling my husband to get a new wife as I was not able to conceive. One day, I went to the village to visit my father. Whilst I was there, I heard the news that my husband had taken another woman. I was very angry and got a return ticket to go back home to confront my husband and his new mistress.

When I arrived, I saw his new mistress at my house and I was enraged. I told her to leave my house. I didn’t want to fight with her, but if she didn’t leave, I was ready to take matters into my own hands. His mistress did not listen, which made me very angry. I went into a fit of rage and took a knife and stabbed her in the stomach as she was pregnant, but I did not care. After stabbing her, I took the knife and stabbed her again in her back. I only stopped because my in-laws intervened and hit my hand with a stick.

The woman was rushed to the hospital and after this incident, we went to village court. The woman left my house and I remained with my husband. I was still not happy because after this incident, my marriage problems only grew worse. There was no peace in the house as I often became aggressive and would fight with him. I refused to listen to him and held bitterness within.

A testing situation arose when my husband lost his job. This was a very difficult time for the family and this problem allowed me to reflect on my life. I prayed, asking God for a solution and gathered my family in the same faith to pray with me. God answered our prayers as we turned on the TV to find the Universal church program. From that day, I was determined to attend the church and seek the help of God.

My family and I all went to church together, and step by step, our lives began to change for the better. Eventually, I decided to change as I recognised that I was harbouring too much  bitterness and unforgiveness. I got baptized, received the Holy Spirit, and I was truly transformed.

Today, my husband and my children have noticed the change in me. My husband and I renewed our marriage vows on the altar, which was a true blessing. Now we live in peace and happiness, and I thank God for that.
